With work from home being so prevalent, an office space needs to feel extra special, and extra, extra motivating.

“Our main objective [when designing] is to create unique and inspiring spaces where people want to work,” said Diane Spiridoulias, Partner in the Retail Duo design studio.

This project was unique: rather than designing for a specific client, the Retail Duo had been contracted to make for-lease office spaces feel both warm and productive for any prospective business. To achieve this, the pair focused on a palette that “nodded to neutral,” and opted to keep the space feeling fresh and light through the common working areas. For offices and meeting rooms—which had far less natural light than the open-concept common areas—the pair leaned into the moodier vibe with darker woods and fabric selects.

As the project was slated to be shown to prospective clients as soon as construction was completed, The Retail Duo’s timeline was in constant flux: permit delays and project changes necessitated tight communication between the design team and their Article Pro account managers. 

“Article was VERY accommodating [of project delays] and made the shipping changes quickly… everything was delivered, placed, and assembled perfectly,” said Diane. “They even placed the protective wrap back on to the assembled furniture to protect it all from dust. We were truly grateful.”

The result? “Our clients were extremely happy with the results,” said Diane. Both office projects were leased almost immediately after completion.
