Cohesive design brings two family-oriented projects together.

When you decide to become a designer, you don't anticipate becoming an expert in logistics.

Luckily, the team at Jewel Toned Interiors is as skilled at managing timelines as they are developing smart, stylish design projects.

Pilgrim Village is a mutli-family housing project split into two distinct communities: the first is aimed at low-income seniors, the second at low-income families. The Jewel Toned team was tasked with harmonizing the disparate needs of these two communities while managing to keep the projects feeling visually cohesive… and under budget. Multi-family projects are especially price-sensitive, which can lead to constraints around product choice and availability.

Communal spaces, anchored by the Passo chairs, are at the heart of the Pilgrim Village project.

Residents can spend time together playing games and reading on the Sven Sofa and ottomans.

Brightly colored murals are grounded by sophisticated velvet chairs and leather sofas.

Smaller areas for work and reading are supported by the Svelti office chair.

Dining spaces encourage social and dynamic mealtimes atop the Vena tables.

Cozy spaces featuring the Burrard sofa are great for neighborly hangs.

“For us, it’s always very easy to go with Article because [the team] is very responsive,” said design project manager Cindy Martinez-Malo. “...we know the catalog and what to expect, and the price point falls within our project budget.”

Jewel Toned also called out how much they appreciated Article Pro’s ability to hold and shift delivery schedules. 

“The most significant challenge was the logistics…” said Cindy. Sudden changes to the construction schedule meant Jewel Toned needed to redirect and hold en-route shipments—which was no problem for the Article Pro team. 

“Being able to hold the furniture until it’s all ready to be delivered is very helpful,” said Cindy. [The team was] very responsive with reselections and different options when products don’t meet the timeline.”
